Supporting Civil Society Advocacy Efforts

One of the important strategies of CBGA has been to strengthen the advocacy efforts of the rights-based civil society organisations in the country by helping them ask sharper (i.e. well-informed, specific and pertinent) questions on budgets to the policymakers at various levels of governance. The scope of this kind of support has been reasonably broad, which includes helping our civil society partners comprehend issues relating to budget allocations and expenditure on critical sectors /sections of population and other relevant issues relating to budgets. CBGA has also been providing research support to grassroots organisations, campaigns and coalitions working on diverse issues. In particular, strong links have been established with civil society organisations promoting dalit rights, women’s rights, child rights, and those demanding a higher priority for social sectors in the budgets.
