Overview

Analyzing budgets and spreading awareness on budgets may not be sufficient for bringing about actual changes in budgetary policies and processes in the country. This is because even when we are able to generate adequate research findings for influencing the policies in any specific sector or on any specific issue, a lack of sense of urgency on the part of key policy actors emerges to be a major challenge in India. This is where advocacy with a range of stakeholders becomes important. Hence, through its advocacy efforts, CBGA strives to make dents in the budget processes, which do not provide much space for the voices of common people. CBGA's advocacy efforts focus on taking the pro-poor and pro-marginalised budgetary issues to a wide range of stakeholders and also building considerable pressure on them to reorient policy priorities in favour of the poor and marginalised sections.
