Ecuador, as the Chair of G77, organised the 2nd Informal Workshop on International Taxation on 11th May ahead of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development (FfD) follow up in New York. India recognised that global tax cooperation has been unable to keep pace with globalisation and spoke in favour of having an intergovernmental tax body to enhance regional cooperation on tax matters at this event.

Ecuador, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), South Africa, Algeria, Panama and Cuba also extended their support for the intergovernmental tax body under the auspices of UN.
