The Draft National Policy for Women 2016 has been brought out by the Ministry of Women and Child Development nearly a decade and a half since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. It intends to address new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems that continue to hinder gender equality as well as make use of fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment.
