Session on Did Pandemic Spending go towards a Feminist People's Recovery in Africa and Latin America? 8 April, 2022

Ahead of the IMF and the World Bank Spring Meetings 2022, the Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF) hosted sessions on diverse topics such as gender, climate change, inequality, the pandemic recovery, and more. The CSPF provides an open space for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to dialogue and exchange views with World Bank Group and IMF staff, their peers, government delegations, and other stakeholders on a wide range of topics.
This session was organised on April 8th by the Financial Transparency Coalition, with CBGA as one of the co-organisers. It discussed the government recovery measures in Africa and LAC, and whether the concerns around growing gender inequalities during the pandemic were taken into consideration while designing recovery packages. The session had Mr Abebe Aemro Selassie, the Director of the Africa Department at the IMF responding to the presentations by the panelists on different aspects of the recovery measures. It was moderated by CBGA's Happy Pant.
