Nutritional deprivation is the highest among tribal children in India. However, fiscal policy strategy to improve nutritional status for this section of the population depends to a great extent on the implementation of TSP at the State level. While TSP is a strategy for overall development of tribal communities, there also exist certain Union Government schemes not specifically targeting tribal communities but which seek to improve nutritional status, directly or indirectly, of the vulnerable sections of the population. This issue brief highlights important findings in this regard.
